Heat is generated in the winding of dry transformers and must be dissipated via the surface of the coil. Fans are ideally suited for this purpose. Rosenberg fans help to remove the dissipated heat and simultaneously use the ambient air to cool down the transformer. An efficiently cooled transformer has the following advantages:

- Longer life due to the more even distribution of temperature of the transformer winding
