Transformer Cooling

Heat is generated in the winding of dry transformers and must be dissipated via the surface of the coil. Fans are ideally suited for this purpose. Rosenberg fans help to remove the dissipated heat and simultaneously use the ambient air to cool down the transformer. An efficiently cooled transformer has the following advantages:

  • Higher peak loads can be achieved
  • Improved efficiency of the transformer
  • Increased power of the transformer
  • Longer life due to the more even distribution of temperature of the transformer winding

Fans for Wind Turbines

How does the energy supply of the future look? Power generation by wind turbines is increasingly in the focus of the electricity-supplying companies due to energy transition measures adopted by the German Federal Government. An important part of a wind turbine is the protection of the individual components from overheating. No matter whether nacelle ventilation, generator cooling, switch cabinet ventilation, tower air cooling or inverter and transformer cooling - our fans are suitable for every demand in the wind turbine area. Through long years of know-how, these fans are designed for the highest technical demands.

We offer flexible solutions for:

  • optimum air flow
  • minimal maintenance
  • optimised noise behaviour
  • a wide range of operating voltages (at 50/60 Hz)
  • maximum efficiency at variable speeds
  • trouble-free operation even under vibration and voltage peaks
  • space-saving installation through direct-drives with external rotor motors

Wide performance range for wind turbines

Nacelle ventilation

The nacelle of a wind turbine is home to many high-tech components which give off heat to the environment. Removal of this heat is absolutely necessary for trouble-free operation of the system. Our fans in the DRA, AND and DQ/DR series, for example, can do this.

Generator cooling

Kinetic energy is converted into electrical energy in the generator. Loss of heat occurs during this conversion. This heat must be diverted to protect the generator from overheating. Our fans in the DRA series are ideally suited for this task.

Switch cabinet ventilation

Switch cabinets are essential for perfectly coordinating the components of a wind turbine. Here, too, sufficient heat dissipation is required to protect sensitive electrical components from overheating. Our free running impellers in various designs, as well as fans in the ERA series, have been specifically designed for this application.

Tower air cooling

Wind turbine tower cooling is only possible with large volume flows. For this reason, various axial fans, as well as free-running impellers with standard motors in the DKNM/DKNB/DKNR series are used here.

Inverter and transformer cooling

The cooling of other electronic components, such as converters or transformers, is also no problem for our individually designed fans. It does not matter whether the cooling is to be done in the nacelle or at the base of a wind turbine.

Air conditioning of the driver’s cab

The workplace of the train driver places high technical demands on heating, ventilation and air-conditioning. Whether on-roof systems, integrated roof systems or under floor installations – for the required air movement our backward curved motorized impellers from the DKHR/M series (EC-variant GKHR/M) are ideally suited. Also centrifugal fans of the type ERA, axial fans from the series AKF/AKS as well as fans from the ECOFIT series REE, GDF and VRE are eminently suitable for this application.

Cooling of components of the propulsion- and braking system

The traction system of a rail vehicle consists of different elements like tractions motors and traction inverters. To avoid harmful overheating the heat has to be dissipated. The same is true for components of the braking system of trains. Backward curved motorized impellers from the DKHR/M series (EC-variant GKHR/M), centri-fugal fans of the type ERA/DRA, as well as centrifugal fans from the ECOFIT series GDF are best suitable for this field of application.

Air conditioning of the passenger cabin

Comfort for passengers is a top priority in railway technology. Fans of the Rosenberg group are the right choice for a pleasant climate in the cars. They reach the required operating point within inte-grated system solutions reliably at minimum space requirements. Such characteristics have for example our backward curved motorized impellers from the DKHR/M (EC-variant GKHR/M), centrifugal fans of the type DRA, centrifugal fans from the ECOFIT series GDF, as well as AKF/AKS axial fans.

Switch gear cabinet ventilation / electronics cooling

The technical constructions of rail vehicles consist of many elec-tronic components which are often housed in switch gear cabinets. Here too sufficient heat dissipation is required to protect the sensitive electronic components. Our backward curved motorized impellers from the DKHR/M series (EC variant GKHR/M), centrifugal fans of the type ERA or fans from the ECOFIT series REE, GDF and 200DW were especially designed for this application.

Cooling of components of the onboard power system

High precision power supply within the onboard power system of rail vehicles is state-of-the-art today. Comparable with the propulsion system of trains, here system components which have to be cooled are used as well. For these cooling applications, our backward curved motorized impellers from the DKHR/M series (EC variant GKHR/M), centrifugal fans of the type ERA/DRA, as well as fans from the ECOFIT series REE, GDF and 200DW are used.

Production Halls and Warehouses

Optimal ventilation is also important particularly in industrial buildings. Due to the high ceilings, large production halls and warehouses have the problem of quickly getting very cold especially in winter.

Production companies strive to make their production area as large as possible. For this very reason, air handling units represent obstacles in production halls. With roof fans and air handling units in a weather-proof design from Rosenberg, you can move the ventilation systems to the unused area of the roof.

Hall doors in industrial buildings are opened several times a day. The resulting exchange of air masses between the outer and inner area leads to a significant loss of energy. Efficient door air curtains put an end to energy loss. The two areas are separated from each other with an invisible air barrier. Lower heating costs, fewer draughts and preservation of the climate inside the building provide for increased comfort at lower costs.

Industrial Applications

In 2010, approximately 7 million people were employed in the industry and manufacturing sector in Germany according to the Federal Statistical Office. A large number of employees and employers spend their working time fully or partly in workshops, foundries, production halls or warehouses. The contamination and heating of the air caused by the work is a growing problem in this industry. The exchange of fresh air is therefore a big issue when planning new construction or renovating older industrial halls. Our products for industrial ventilation provide the most diverse industrial sectors with fresh air, thus subsequently improving the (employee) work climate.

These industrial sectors include:

Hotels

In hotels, guests should be provided with as comfortable and pleasant a stay as possible. With our fans and ventilation devices, not only can a pleasant climate be created, but fresh air can also be supplied to the hotel. The most varied requirements for the air supply are found in hotels, posing a special challenge.

We offer the optimal solution for the requirements in the following hotel areas:

  • Conference rooms
  • Hotel rooms
  • Hotel lobbies
  • Restaurants
  • Roof (installation option)

Conference rooms

The SupraBox DELUXE is ideal for conference rooms and also complies with existing conditions. These energy recovery units are very quiet so that ventilation is not disruptive during meetings. The new design will not be an eyesore in the future due to the magnetic front panel which can be used as a pinboard. The air quality in conference rooms can be increased not only due to the reduction of CO2 content and the heat recovery but also through pollen and fine dust filtering. The installation and commissioning of the equipment is also very easy and flexible.

Hotel rooms

The hotel rooms represent the most important part of a hotel and must therefore allow for comfortable living. To ensure a comfortable living environment, Rosenberg offers the optimal solution with the SupraBox COMFORT. The energy recovery unit with heat recovery shows how energy efficient and low noise a ventilation unit can be. Multiple hotel rooms can be supplied with fresh air at one time by means of a energy recovery unit.

Hotel lobbies

In the hotel lobby, the opening of the large entry doors frequently leads to unpleasant temperatures. Our door air curtains can counteract this.

Restaurants

Ventilation is very important in large and commercial kitchens. We replace the dirty and greasy exhaust air with fresh air using our fans. The Kitchen exhaust unit or the Unobox-ME are integrated into pipe systems and are adapted to requirements in kitchens. In addition to the hygienic and maintenance-friendly casing and the motor outside of the air flow, very hot media can also be exhausted using these fans.

Roof

Hotels strive to make their production area as large as possible. For this very reason, air handling units often represent obstacles in hotel complexes. Rosenberg therefore allows you to install their ventilation systems on the roof. A further advantage of this results in the central control of the apparatus. In addition to air handling units, roof fans offer space-saving installation.

Filter and Cleanroom Applications

The structural change, which is caused by the ever increasing pace of technical progress, gives rise to more and more electronics-oriented companies. Dust and other contaminants in the air are increasingly becoming a problem for products which are more and more sensitive in these sectors. Companies with filling plants and the pharmaceutical industry are faced with the same complication due to hygiene regulations.

Filtering with the help of fans as a component or complete air handling units can eliminate these dust particles and debris in the air.

As a component for these requirements, free running impellers with EC technology in particular are primarily distinguished by their capacity and their quiet and efficient operation - and all this in a confined space.

School Buildings

In many schools, there is "something in the air"...

... that has been confirmed by scientific studies, in addition to the PISA study, which show that the air quality in many classrooms leaves much to be desired. The culprit is high carbon dioxide (CO2) content in the air.

In recent years, the facades, including windows, have been renovated in many public buildings to save energy in the future. In Germany, many schools were modernised in the framework of the economic stimulus package II. The lack of natural ventilation was often not considered with the increasingly denser building shells. The result is a rising CO2 content causing fatigue, headaches and poor concentration among students as well as higher stress for teachers from non-receptive students.

In most school rooms, a change of air only occurs by allowing air to enter through windows, but only if the windows are open. If the windows are closed, the CO2 content increases rapidly. Frequently,CO2 concentrations in the ambient air are reached which are "not hygienically acceptable".

Already at CO2 concentrations of  > 1,000 ppm, the term "hygienically questionable value" is used. This is, however, already exceeded after a very short time; as soon as people enter the area. Even hygienically unacceptable values of over 2,000 ppm are not uncommon. A high external noise level, very cold temperatures and draughts make window ventilation difficult. This problem is exacerbated by the fact with that this type of ventilation, valuable heating energy escapes from the room and this must be laboriously heated again after airing.

Mechanical ventilation as a solution...

Mechanical ventilation of classrooms can help eliminate the problems mentioned. This was confirmed by a study done by a university in Denmark which was conducted in Danish schools. They came to the conclusion that students work more efficiently and more concentrated - by up to 16% more - in mechanically ventilated rooms as compared with rooms which are ventilated exclusively by opening the window. CO2 content in the classroom can only be kept at hygienically acceptable limits long-term in compliance with the comfort conditions (no cold draughts, draughty conditions, etc.) with mechanical ventilation.

Rosenberg provides the optimal solution for mechanical ventilation in class and seminar rooms as well as in office and meeting rooms with its SupraBox DELUXE series decentralised energy recovery units:
